Livelihood Improvement

Many families we work with simply lack the means to care for their children. We work with all of our families to address the poverty that stands in the way of feeding, educating and otherwise caring for their children. To date we have:

Basooka Kvavula Caregiver's Group in Kaggo village meet weekly to save and loan money out to members.

  • Mobilized 750 Caregivers into 18 Caregiver's Groups. These groups, of approximately 40 members meet each week to save and loan their money together. Caregiver's have used their access to these groups to establish income generating businesses (agriculture, animal husbandry, grocery shops, tailoring etc.) to support their families and to pay for other family expenses
  • Provided 800 CAD to each Caregiver's group to increase the size and frequency of loans that they make to group members.
  • Trained 750 Caregivers in financial management, group management and small business development.
